American Oak

Triple distilled and matured solely in American bourbon casks. The result: a Lowland Single Malt Whisky with the sweet aromas of vanilla and coconut - along with the signature smooth, delicate, Auchentoshan taste.

Like all Auchentoshan, American Oak is a really versatile Single Malt. It works wonders as an Auchentoshan & Ale, is happy to stand on its own neat or over ice but also shakes up some classic cocktails that you might not think work with Single Malt whisky.

Auchentoshan Sour

Here’s our recipe for an Auchentoshan Sour, our take on the old trusted classic.

  • 35ml Auchentoshan American Oak
  • 20ml Simple Syrup (dissolve 1 part sugar in 1 part water over a hob and let chill)
  • 20ml Fresh lemon juice

Add all ingredients to a shaker and full with ice (you can do this in some tupperware at home if you haven’t got a shaker yet). Shake, and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a cherry and/or lemon wedge.

Glasgow Mule

  • 50ml American Oak
  • Squeeze of lime
  • Topped with Ginger beer

Squeeze the lime into a collins glass and drop in the shell. Add 2 or 3 ice cubes, then pour in the AO and fill with cold ginger beer.
