AUCHENTOSHAN & ALE

Shake things up with an Auchentoshan whisky cocktail. Kick things off with this twist on a typical Glasgow drink combination.

Whisky and ale have long been firm friends. In Scotland they are drawn from the same proud tradition of artisan brewing and distilling. Walk into any great Glasgow pub, catch the eye of the bartender and ask for a 'hauf an' a hauf' and you’ll promptly be served a whisky with an ale chaser.

That’s the old favourite that we’ve reimagined as an Auchentoshan and Ale cocktail. It’s a great cocktail to try when the sun’s out. And yes, the sun does often shine in Glasgow.

The sweet aroma of citrus zest and bold nuttiness brought by Auchentoshan Single Malt Scotch whisky pairs perfectly with the crispness of the chilled beer.

This tantalising combination of flavours provides you with an unexpectedly refreshing drink.

So try it with your favourite beer, and – of course - your favourite Auchentoshan.

Whisky Recipes: How to Make an Auchentoshan and Ale Cocktail

Cocktail Ingredients

35ml Auchentoshan American Oak for your whisky
25ml Lemon juice
25ml Honey syrup
90ml Pale Ale
Lemon edge garnish
Bitters (optional)

Preparation

Combine your measure of Auchentoshan American Oak whisky with the lemon juice and honey syrup in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously then strain into a glass or a mug with ice. Top that up with a beer of your choice (you can tailor things to your own taste, but we recommend a quality pale ale) and then garnish with a lemon wedge. Take a sip and smile knowingly at your pals.
