AUCHENTOSHAN MANHATTAN

New York has long been one of the world’s leading cocktail powerhouses, driving new ideas and creating some of the all-time great mixed drinks. Now, we’ve found a way to connect the cocktail cathedrals of the Big Apple to our own whisky innovators here at home. We’ve done it through this one special recipe. Here’s our dynamic take on an Auchentoshan Manhattan.

You can think of it as a creative Glaswegian twist on the old American Classic – leading to a drink that will be instantly familiar, and yet tantalisingly different. As Scotland’s only triple distilled single malt though, distinctiveness is in our nature at Auchentoshan.

You can find more tips and inspiration in the How We Serve It Section of the website.

The Auchentoshan 12 Year Old Single Malt has a smooth, refined Lowland whisky taste that offers sweet notes along with hints of tangy tangerine and lime. All of these attributes make it a perfect component of this Scottish-American fusion drink. Try it for yourself. It’s a recipe as straightforward and no nonsense as New Yorkers and Glaswegians themselves, meaning you can mix an Auchentoshan Manhattan up in no time.

Cocktail Ingredients

It’s a simple recipe that results in an epic drink.
50ml Auchentoshan 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
20ml Sweet Vermouth
3 Dashes Angostura Bitters

Preparation

Add the three ingredients for the whisky cocktail to a mixing glass and fill that glass with ice. Stir the drink (a total of 17 times if you want to mix it up like the professionals), and then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnish with a cherry and sip whilst imagining you are at the top of the Empire State Building on a warm sunny evening, while remembering good times in Glasgow.
